Il Giglio

By Jason Wilenski

Upon arrival at this somewhat isolated downtown sibling of Il Mulino, we knew we were in for something special. As we waited at the bar area while our table was prepared, we were greeted with a delicious hot antipasto of fried zucchini. This was only the beginning. Soon we were seated and were inundated with other classic antipasti's including sweet marinated peppers, olives and parmiganno regianno cheese.

We shared a few pastas as appetizers, which were all delicious including a standout linguine bolognese. Entrees were also excellent and included a thick, tender veal chop seasoned to perfection. Desserts including homemade tiramisu added a tremendous finishing touch to the meal.

While acceptable, the atmosphere is a little weak in that the restaurant appears dated. However, the delicious food and excellent service clearly outweigh the appearance. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not open on the weekends. Dinner for two with wine, dessert and tip will costs approximately $150.
